The development of working incapacity is not favourable in last years. The paper describes the development of working incapacity since 1945, presents some influencing factors and mentions efforts and particular instruments to influence it. It presents some functions of the physician assessing the working capacity in relation to physicians who take care for the patient and suggests certain modification in frequency of visits in physician’s offices.
