Francová J., Pavlů D., Pánek D.

Summary:

In this contribution the authors refer to the importance of so called therapeutic climbing for physiotherapy. The contribution is supplemented with a pilot study using polyelectromyographic examination for documentation of intensity of integration in selected stabilizers of shoulder blade during isometric contraction in selected positions of upper extremity characteristic for assuming balanced body position on the climbing wall. In spite of considerable inter-individual variability probably reflecting differences in individual mode of stabilization of shoulder girdle, the results showed considerable activation of middle and lower portion of trapezoid muscle in assuming the balanced body position at the climbing wall in selected positions of the arm and indicated possible direction of using the therapeutic climbing in therapy.

Key words: therapeutic climbing, polyelectromyography, shoulder blade stabilizers, physiotherapy
