Summary:

The pains in upper extremity belong to symptomatology of diseases associated with injury of the whiplash type (WAD). Multifactorial causes are involved. The painful conditions are most probably caused by direct damage of acromioclavicular articulation in compression of clavicle by the pressure of seat belt in the course of the whiplash injury itself. The diagnostic tests include clinical tests of acromioclavicular articulation, radiography and MRI. The diagnostic-therapeutic procedure must involve the whole complex of the shoulder joint including acromioclavicular articulation, sternoclavicular joint, scapulothoracic joint and cervical spine.

Key words: acromioclavicular articulation, Whiplash Associated Disorders - WAD, Whiplash injury, Brachialgia
