Summary:
The paper presents the analysis of communicable and parasitic occupational diseases reported in soldiers in the active service in
the Army of the Czech Republic in 1996–2006. These diseases are the most frequent reported occupational diseases in the followup
period. 85.2% of them developed during the stay abroad, in demanding climatic and serious epidemiological areas. The increase of
these diseases in recent years is connected to the character of the army activity, i. e. sending soldiers to military and observational
missions of the UNO. The most frequent diagnosis was malaria. The author stresses the importance of undertaking examinations
before departure and after coming back home.
