Müller I.

Ortopedická klinika Lékařské fakulty Masarykovy univerzity a Fakultní nemocnice Brno, přednosta doc. MUDr. Martin Krbec, CSc.

Summary:

A painful impingement syndrome of a shoulder with a function disorder has its origin in oppression of a subacromial space with subsequent degeneration and damage of a cuff of rotators and bursa. The review of etiopatogenesis of the disease, degeneration of soft tissues, clinical symptoms and related difficulties are presented in the paper. The review of examinations with an appropriate algorithm of rentgenologic, ultrasonographic techniques and a magnetic resonance method follows. Treatment includes conservative and surgical procedures. The issues of prognosis and occupational medical expertise is discussed in detail. An impingement syndrome of a shoulder is related with a unilateral, excessive and long-term overload of a shoulder girdle.

Key words: impingement syndrome of a shoulder, disorders of a cuff of rotators, professional and sports overload, occupational medical practice
