Summary: Spirometry remains the basic method of the lung function examination. However, it is a method critically dependent on the collaboration
with the patient, motivation of the staff and quality of instruments.Validity of results is ensured with the system of the quality
control which became an inherent part of the work of centres for lung function examination.
