Summary: Oxygen is a crucial medium in the process of healing. Oxygen tissue content can be increased by the inhalation of hyperbaric oxygen.
Its content can be measured by transcutaneous oximetry. It is non-invasive technique by a probe fixed on a patient’s skin. Measurement
is influenced by a set of parameters. The measurement results can be used as a predictor of location of amputation, evaluation
of skin healing process and classification of hyperbaric oxygen efficacy. In the end of the article some practical remarks
relating the measurement technique are explained.
