Summary:
In 1979 to 1998 in the Czech Republic 1088 subjects contracted tularaemia but only in 90 the disease was notified as
occupational. On the territory of the South Moravian regions during the same period 480 cases were reported, incl. 46 which were
certified as occupational. Occupational tularaemia affected in particular workers manipulating with feeding stuffs, litter, atten-
dants, milk maids, animal feeding personnel. Rare cases occurred also in laboratory workers. The disease was in the majority
manifested with the clinical picture of the dermal, ulceroglandular or pulmonary form. The authors draw attention to the marked
difference between the number of all newly notified cases of tularaemia and the number of cases certified as occupational disease.
