Summary:
The paper presents the basic knowledge on etiology, pathogenesis, clinical and laboratory signs, prevention and evaluation of
silicosis of lungs and coal-mine pneumoconiosis. The prevalence of both diseases decreases, especially in relation to the decrease of
the number of workers exposed to dusts with fibrogenic effect and the decrease of the amount of their inhalation dust exposure.
