The objective of the study was to test the suitability of predictive methods of adult height for the Contemporary generation of Czech Children. With regard to the number of probands only predictive methods esere tested which use as predictor the child's Calendar age. Separately for medium sized, tall and shorter Children the suitability of the following prediction methods was tested: Bayley and Pinneau (1), Walker I and Walker II (14), Gray (3), Kališová and Riegerová (5), Šimková and the revised method of Šimková (11). Based on the updated Bayley and Pineeau (1) method for Children with medium stature a method is described called the updated BP method. An obvious advantage of this prediction method is its possible rapid and easy updating whenever more recept data are available. The results of the Nationwide Anthropological Survey (CAV) in 2001 will make it possible, using this method, to obtain not only age-related but also height-related specific prediction equations. The investigation confirmed the suitability of the application of some methods published in the past and conversely it shows that methods which include in the prediction equations the secular trend for the average Czech child population are unsuitable.
