Objective: To demonstrate the problems of free radicals and antioxidants in medicine, which is a developing branch not satisfactory utilized in praxis. Design: Summary. Settings: Department of clinical chemistry, Mulac hospital, Pilsen. Material and Methods: There were elaborated on the basis of examinations and literary data the hypotheses of possible research topics and applications in praxis. Results: There were described analytical possibilities of free radicals and their detoxification and elimination, referred to applications in gastrointestinal diseases, in gynecology and obstetrics, general medicine, immunology, dermatology, sport medicine, in blood donors, aging, obesity and others. Conclusions: There are many unsolved problems in free radical and antioxidant sphere, their research and application in praxis may significantly influence the quality of the life.
