Regulation ofbone cell metabolism at the cellular and molecular level
PALIČKA, V., ŽIVNÝ, P.

Osteocentrum, Ústav klinické biochemie a diagnostiky Lékařské fakulty a Fakultní nemocnice, Hradec Králové Přednosta: Prof. MUDr. Vladimír Palička, CSc.

Summary:

Recent advances in our understanding of the molecular biological processes inside bone tissue and its cells (osteoblasts and osteoclasts) háve enabled us to better understand the signalling pathways. Current osteology focuses on the possibilities of influencing stem cells and shifting the balance from adipocytes to osteoblasts. Intercellular signalling, mainly the interaction between osteoblasts and osteoclasts via the RANKL/RANK/OPG systém has already led to a direct pharmacological outcome and the development of a new group of drugs.

Key words: osteology, osteoporosis, stem cells, signál transduction, Wnt signalisation, osteoprotegerin
