Summary:
Two case reports of an atypical course of pneumococcal meningitis are presented. In the first case there was
a fudroyant course, with only one positive microbiological finding and a fatal outcome. The second case was a boy
with concomitant mastoiditis, necessary of surgery, a severe clinical course, but a favourable outcome. After two
years his neurological status is normal.
