Summary:

Urinary incontínence has a major impact on quality of life and greatly influences the physical, psychological and sociál comfort of all patíents. The decreased incidence of urinary incontínence observed in patíents following treatment with injectables, brings major improvements to the quality of life in both male and female patíents. Patíents can resumé their normál actívitíes soon after treatment and the side effects of the treatment are very minor compared to other surgical methods. Female patíents with sphincteric insufficiency and/or hypermobility of the urethra are ideál candidates for this kind of therapy. In view of the low morbidity, patíents can undergo the proceduře repeatedly and in čase of failure an alternativě surgical option can be performed. There is little dif-ference between the various materials that are currently ušed and the choice of injectables can be left to the surgeon depending on personál preference, availability and price.

Key words: Urinary incontinence, bulking agents, injectables.
