Structural Correlations of Splenic Tissue in Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic

Summary: Immunologic activation of the splenic white pulp seemed to be an important feature of the
structural changes in the 8 splenectomized patients with ITP. However, destruction of the plate-
lets with CD 16+ monocytes was the most prominent change in the Billroth’s cords of the splenic
red pulp. Classical NK cells did not play an important role in platelets destruction.
