Summary:

Presented is a čase report of a rare čase of a young woman making a living through commercial sex in whom, two months after appendectomy, there has been demonstrated the agent Neisseria gonorrhoeae in tne posoperative wound. Simultaneously, there was a positive fmding of gonococci in the endocervix, urethra, and oropharynx. At the time of surgical intervention the appendix bore no signs of any inflammation. In question is an analysit of an erroneously interpreted clinical picture, of the conducted investigation and tre- atment and their shortcomings in the differential diagnosis of an acute abdominal event. The report also documents the risky lite style of that woman who after all those complications again acquired gonorrhea, through a non-sexual pathway transmitted the infection to the pharynx of her chold, became pregnant for a second time and in the end was murdered by her client in the course of commercial sex. This čase report in the whole context documents the importance of venereology and the need of interdis- ciplinary collaboration.

Key words: gonorrhea — pain in the lower abdomen - investigation - appendectomy - treatment - risky sexual behavior
