Summary: Kaposi sarcoma is still the object of intensive research and interest of dermatologists. Recently,
there has been discovered an important, if not fundamental, role of HHV-8 in its origin and
development. Part one of the paper deals with an integral review of present knowledge regarding
the problem of Kaposi sarcoma - foremost its classical form.
