The incidence of exanthema subitum as a clean-cut manifestation of HHV-6 and HHV-7 infection has been followed in the years 1969 - 1995 with regard to treatment with antibiotics in some manifestations of the disease and following misdiagnosed allergy. The importance of the new herpesviruses is far-reaching and interferes with more specialisations.
