Vascular type dementia is second commonest causa of dementia. The authors of the article háve doně a survey of essential data concerning vascular type dementia. They present also follow-up evaluating effect of piracetam on symtoms in patiens with clinical picture of severe vascular type dementia. This follow-up is retrospective. The assembled results of the follow-up showed that a favourable effect for piracetam was not found in severe vascular type dementia symptoms.
