Summary:
The authors evaluated retrospectively the frequency of sensitization to allergens of the „Europe-
an Standard Trolab set“ in tested eczematous subjects in 1997 - 1999 at the First Dermatovenerolo-
gical Clinic in Brno. The group comprised 664 eczematous subjects, mean age 40.4 years (women 423,
men 241). A positive response to at least one allergen of the Trolab set was obtained in 306 tested
subjects, i.e. 46.1 % of the group. The order of positive responses to allergens of the European
standard set was as follows: 1. nickel sulphate 14.5 % (women 19.9 %, men 5 %), 2. formaldehyde 10.4
%, 3. Fragrance-mix 4.8 %, 4. Peruvian balsam 4.7 %, 5. potassium dichromate 4.5 %, 6. alcoholes
lanae 4.4 %, Kathon CG (mixture of isothiazole derivatives) 3.8 %. The order of allergens arranged by
sex was as follows: in men potassium dichromate 10.4 %, formaldehyde 8.3 %, nickel sulphate 5 %,
Peruvian balsam 4.6 %, Fragrance-mix 3.7 %, epoxide resin 3.7 %, Kathon CG 3.3 %, in women nickel
sulphate 19.9 %, formaldehyde 11.6 %, Fragrance-mix 5.4 %, alcoholes lanae 5.2 %, Peruvian balsam
4.7 %, Kathon CG 4 %, Thiuram-mix 2.8 %. Among subjects sensitized to nickel women predominated
- 84 of 96, i.e. 87.5 %, 46.9 % patients sensitive to nickel had the basic diagnosis of atopic eczema. The
mean age (34.7 years) in the group sensitive to nickel was lowest.
