Summary:

The authors discuss the problem of congenital pigmented naevi with regard to their incidence, clinical picture, symptomatology, tendency to progress, and the possible change into malignant melanoma, and treatment. The authors demonstrate the problem on four child patients with congenital pigmented naevi from their own clinical material. In one instance they observed the development of melanoma with minimal deviation. The authors seek possible ways of treatment of congenital pigmented naevi and draw attention to the need of their dispensarization from early age.

Key words: congenital pigmented naevi - progression - spontaneous regression - melanoma malignum
