Summary:

The alternative form of the enteral nutrition for children with functional digestive system is endoscopically installed gastrostomy. We have been using this method at the Clinic for children and young people in Banská Bystrica since 1999. From that time,we have installed percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) for 17 children at the age from 3 month to 16 years. The instillation of PEG was successful for 16 patients out of 17. The average period of the installation was 7,7 months. Small local complications were recorded in 3 patients. Nutrition by PEG was positively evaluated from the side of both parents and nursing personnel.
