Autoimmunity in the Pathogenesis of Atopic Dermatitis
Szép Z., Danilla T.

Detská kožná klinika LFUK a DFNsP, Bratislavaprednosta doc. MUDr. T. Danilla, PhD.

Summary:

Etiopathogenesis of atopic dermatitis is complex. Recent research emphasize the significance of IgE-mediated autoimmune reactions in the pathogenesis of severe, chronic forms of atopic dermatitis. Group of IgE autoantigens, represented by intracellular proteins playing a role in important physiological functions of various cell types, was discovered. They induce formation of IgE autoantibodies, which are the main effectors of autoimmune reaction via mechanism of facilitated antigen presentation. Autoreactivity is based on the cross-reactivity between exogenous allergens and autoantigens. The review summarizes the role of autoimmunity in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis.
