Summary:

The authors present the case of a 22-year-old female patient who suffered a first attack of ulcerative colitis with extraintestinal manifestations of the disease in the form of pyoderma gangrenosum. Multiple skin defects, at not quite typical sites for pyoderma gangrenosum, gradually healed after corticoid and immuno- supressant therapy (cyclosporin A, azathioprin). After introduction of treatment the subjective and objective condition of the patient improved markedly, the frequency of bowel movements decreased, the presence of blood in faeces disappeared, temperatures receded and laboratory tests revealed that the activity of the non-specific inflammation of the gut diminished.

Key words: pyoderma gangrenosum – non-specific inflammations of the gut – immunosuppressants
