Summary:

       Summary: Oral cavum morphology of the cleft patient is distorted due to the congenital defect. Unusual locations of plaque retention are created. Thus, appropriate oral hygiene technique gains importance. Our experiences show that the oral hygiene status of the cleft patients is at an insufficient level. The research was run on random sample of thirty patients confirmed our observations: the average Aproximal Plaque Index – API was 83 % (s = 13), Bleeding Index – BI was 38 % (s = 21).
