Summary:

Background: The authors try to Provide evidence of the incidence, localization and distribution acetylcholinesterase (ACHE) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotidphosphate diaphorase (NADPH-d) Positive nervous structures in the human Palatine tonsil. Materiál and methods: The research was imPlemented on surgically removed human Palatine tonsils from subjects aged 10 to 20 years. The nervous structures were visualized by two histochemical methods and the results of the observation were evaluated by light microscopy. Results: By the aPPlied methods the authors visualized ACHE and NADPH-d Positive nerve fibres and nerve cells. The visualized nerve fibres entered at the site of the connective tissue semi-capsule along with blond vessels the Palatine tonsil and were distributed in its connective tissue Parts. ACHE Positive nerve fibres ran along with arterial branches where they formed an adventitial network and larger Periarterial nerves. They were Present in the connective tissue semi-capsule and entered the marginal Portions of the lymphatic follicles. The ACHE Positive nerve cells with a multipolar shape were connectvd with nerve fibres and deposited in the connective tissue semi-capsule of the Palatine tonsil. NADPH-d Positive nerve fibres were restricted in their course to the adventitia of arterial branches, they did not form larger nerves, did not Penetrate finto lymphatic follicles and were not Present in the connective tissue semi-capsule. The Presence of NADPH-d Positive nerve cells in the Palatine tonsil was not found. Conclusion: In the Palatine tonsil of man ACHE and NADPH-d Positive nervous structures are Present. The Periarterial localization of the visualized nerve fibres indicates their Possible common vasomotor effect.
