Summary:

The authors highlight the fact that intestinal cestodes are still present in the Czech Republic even though their incidence is increasingly rare. A look at the Liberec region confirms this conclusion. The authors describe two less common cases of intestinal cestodes: the discovery of a tapeworm from the genus Taenia during a routine colonoscopy of a female patient following surgery for a tumour of the trans verse colon, and an imported infection of a Czech citizen with Diphyllobothrium latum.

Key words: intestinal cestodes, colonoscopy, Taenia saginata, Diphyllobothrium latum.
