Summary:
Using the PCR-SSP methods the authors assessed in a group of 28 patients suffering from
psoriasis vulgaris the frequency of alleles at loci HLA-A, -B and -C. In the patient group the authors
found, as compared with controls, a marked increase of HLA-Cw*0602, HLA-B*1301-4, HLA-B*3801-2
and HLA-B*5501-8. The highest ratio was in allele HLA-Cw*0602 (0.2581 vs. 0.0734, OR=4.391;
p=0.0002). In 81.2 % patients with allele HLA-Cw*0602 (13 of 16) the authors observed a rapid onset
of the disease - symptoms of psoriasis developed by the age of 35 years. An increased frequency of
alleles HLA-B*3801-2 (OR=3.081; p=0.344) and HLA-B*5501-8 (OR=4.493; p=0.045) wasat the borderline
of significance. Association of psoriasis with these alleles was not published so far.
