Summary:
The authors present the measurement of specific antiborrelia antibodies in classes IgG and IgM in CSF and
serum, using the ELISA method using the apparatus Abbott IMX. The authors’ own programme, enabling
correction of measured CSF values according to the functional state of the CSF-blood barrier, eliminating false
positive results in CSF measurements, when the CSF-blood barrier is impaired are presented. In such a case,
positive serum antibodies penetrate from the serum into CSF. Reiber’s formula was modified for these measure-
ments to enable evaluation of the presence of intrathecal synthesis of specific anti-Borrelia antibodies in CSF.
