Summary: Differences in the Sexual Behaviour of Men and Women Examined in the STD Centre of the Dermatovenereological Clinic
By a review of information on differences of sexual behaviour of men and women seeking assistance of venereologists the authors want to contribute to the implementation of long-term and aimed prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. Using an anonymous questionnaire they obtained data on 352 men and 196 women examined in 1998-2000. In the examined group syphilis was significantly more frequent in women than in men, while gonorrhoea was more frequent in men (p<0.001). Men were significantly older (p<0.001) and had a higher education (p<0.001). Me used more frequently anal and oral sex and non-coital practices. Women had significantly more frequently experience with provision of paid sexual services. Men had more frequently accidental first sexual intercourse. The reason for venereological examination in men was most frequently discharge, in women venereal disease of their partner. During sexual intercourse with an accidental partner one third of men and women did not use condoms.
