In the submitted paper the authors characterize haemangiomas in children, their differences from other vascular anomalies. They draw attention to the correct diagnosis and possible examination methods. Their attention is focused on the mechanismof angiogenesis, angiogenic factors which play an important part in the pathogenesis of haemangiomas, are important in treatment, diagnosis and prognosis of haemangiomas. The authors summarize their findings regarding prednisone therapy which still holds the first place in the treatment of haemangiomas.
