Summary:

Renal Scintigraphy with Furosemide and the Surgical Finding The authors compared the results of dynamic renal scintigraphy with furosemide and the surgical finding in a group of 38 children (28 boys and 10 girls) aged 19 days to 3 months with USG suspicion of obstruction of the pyeloureteral junction. Dynamic renal scintigraphy with furosemide proved obstruction in 26 children. The surgical finding confirmed obstruction in 25 children. In one case obstruction was not detected. Dynamic scintigraphy of the kidneys with furosemide ruled out obstruction in 12 children. One child was operated despite it. The operation confirmed obstruction. The results of dynamic renal scintigraphy with furosemide revealed: sensitivity 96%, specificity 92%, positive predictive value 96%, negative predictive value 92%.

Key words: dynamic renal scintigraphy with furosemide, obstruction of the pyeloureteral junction
