Summary: This review presents basic information on a new method for the estimation of basic urinary sediment analytes
by automated flow cytometry. Data on precision of measurement, stability of analytes, comparability with
microscopy and dipstick method, reference intervals, possible interferences, advantages and disadvantages of
this new methodical approach to microscopy and dipstick are summarized.
