The aim of the work was to evaluate the results of dermatomycoses treatment with new imidazole agent - flutrimazole and to verify its clinical efficacy and tolerability in the form of 1% cream (Micetal®) applied once or twice a day. Methods: 164 patients with dermatomycoses were treated at 5 outpatient dermatovenereology departments. Group I included 82 patients (23 males and 55 females) with the mean age of 44.8 years, who applied the cream once a day. Group II included 82 patients as well (38 males and 40 females) with the mean age of 43.1 years, who applied the cream twice a day. Intensity of 8 disease symptoms was evaluated ineach patient at the first examination andafter 2 and4weeks of therapy using a three point score. Results: Erythema and scaling were the most prominent clinical symptoms before treatment. After 4 weeks they were reduced by 87% (group I) and 90% (group II) and by 80% (group I) and 83% (group II), respectively. Also pruritus significantly diminished by 88% (group I) and 94% (group II) after therapy. Conclusion: The 1% flutrimazole cream has a very satisfactory clinical efficacy in both, once and twice daily application schemes.
