Summary:

Diabetic neuropathy is a complication of diabetes that is difficult to treat. Mesodiencephalic modulation (MDM) is one method that may relieve the pain associated with diabetic neuropathy. In order to determine the effect of MDM, a cross-over clinical study was set up. The study was performed on 25 patients with painful symptoms of diabetic neuropathy. Over the course of two hospital stays, 13 MDM procedures were performed (during one out of the two hospital stays a placebo was performed). The parameter that was eva-luated was reliéf from neuropathic pain during MDM or placebo. The clinical study proved the efficacy and safety of MDM for the treatment of painful symptoms of diabetic neuropathy.
