An unusual case of squamous cell carcinoma that developed in a chronic lesion of lichen planus hypertrophicus of the lower leg is described. The authors point out the necessity of an early diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma and the fact that cutaneous lichen planus hypertrophicus located on the lower extremities can be a risk factor for the development of squamous cell carcinoma.
