Summary:

       The authors deal with the occupational aspect of lung cancer. In 1991 to 1999 in the Czech Republic a total of 592 cases of occupational lung cancer were notified. The etiological factor in 92 % cases was ionizing radiation. In particular miners in uranium mines were affected. The authors focused their attention in particular on an overview and comprehensive sumarization of findings concerned with lung cancer of miners of Czech uranium mines. Special attention is paid to principles of rational interdisciplinary collaboration in investigations of the occupational character of lung cancer and mandatory assessment criteria.
