The importance to follow up the individual growth curve in every child is stressed. In th e case of growth retardation, analysis of growth curves could elucidate the cause of growth impairment. Some typical growth curves for the main causes of growth retardation are reported. Early diagnosis of growth retardation is necessary to avoid late onset of therapy in treatable disorders.
