The objective of the work was an analysis of a group of patients with the diagnosis of malignant melanoma. The group comprises patients dispensarized at the dermatological department of the Bulovka Faculty Hospital in 1989-2000. It is a retrospective analysis based on the documentation of the enlisted patients. The analysis is focused on sex, age when the diagnosis was established and period of dispensarization. The authors evaluated and compared the sites of the primary lesion, histopathological classification, development of secondaries, distribution of findings according to Breslowin individual years in order to ascertain whether the detection of melanomas shifts to earlier stages with a lower Breslow value, and coincidence with other tumours diseases.
