The authors describe a tase of heat-induced contact urticaria. The diagnosis was established on the basis of the tase-history and results of thermal and exposure tests. The lowest temperature to induce an urticarial response was 40 °C. Eruption of pomphi on an erythematous basis occurred at the site of contact with hot objects, hot water and intense solar radiation. Hot food and beverages caused burning and reddening of the lips: the patient did not report general symptomy. Systemic therapy with cetirizine 2x10 mg/day led to disappearance of the pomphi and itching but the erythematous reaction at the site of heat action persisted. After 6 weeks combined treatment of cetirizine 2x10 mg and ketotifen 2x1 mg was used. The effect of this treatment evaluated after 3 weeks was so far the same as monotherapy with cetirizine.
