Summary:

Assumption of the colonization of the slon with the Staphylococcus aureus by using the imprinting method, revealed beneficial effects of phototherapy UVB 311 nm. Eczema atopicum is a chronic inflammatory strongly pruriginous disease occurring urostly in the infant age. The etiopathogenic role of Staphylococcus aureus which colonized the slon in absolute majority of atopic patients in the evolution of this illness is essential. The indirect imprinting method with the semiquantitative counting of the total number of pathogenic organisms on the selected areas for the assumption of cutaneous bacteriologic findings has been used by the authors. The effect of phototherapy by UVB 311 nm on the residence of the Staphylococcus aureus in the slon has been evaluated by the comparison of the slon findings both before and after the treatment. This method has been applied on 10 patients aged from 5 to 15 years. The imprinting method appears to be suitable for the evaluation of the effectiveness of the antibacterial treatment of slon lesions. The phototherapy using UVB 311 nm apparently resulted in the reduction of the slon colonization with staphylococci. Thus this mode of treatment can be successfully used as a supplement to the antibiotic therapy either systemic or local in the patient suffering from atopic dermatitis.

Key words: eczema atopicum - microbial colonization of the slon - influence of UVB 311 nm radiation
