Summary:

Within the framework of differential diagnosis of protracted fever in children it is important to consider also Kawasaki’s disease. This pertains in particular to infants and toddlers. Early diagnosis and therapeutic provisions such as intravenous administration of large doses of immunoglobulins may prevent the development of affections of the coronary arteries. The higher price of immunoglobulins is in that case balanced by reduced risk of serious complications .Repeated sonographic examinations of the coronary circulation is in some clinically obscure cases essential. In the diagnosis of the disease ii is important to take account of criteria which make it possible to diagnose forms of the disease which are incomplete or have an atypical course.

Key words: Kawasaki’s disease - fever of obscure etiology - child age.
