The objective of the work was to review causes of adrenal insufficiency in neonatal age, its diagnosis and treatment. The authors focused their attention also on the development and function of the adrenals during the foetal period and in immature neonates and they draw attention to possible pathological associations. In the third part they demonstrate their own experience with patients suffering from adrenal insufficiency.
