Summary:

The authors describe the presence of goitre associated with impaired hearing in Pendred’s syndrome in a young woman. The association of impaired thyroid function and hypacusia is known and was described. Hypacusia is associated with three basic types of thyropathies: endemic cretenism. Pendred’s syndrome and hypothyroidism which develops in adult age. The authors demonstrate on the case of a young woman impaired thyroid function associated with gradually progressing hypacusia - practically deafness. The authors proved the concurrent hearing disorder and impaired thyroid function. They did not prove pathology of the cochlea (Mondi’s type) in this patient. The perchlorate test was not indicated in the patient. Its contribution is not unequivocal form data in the literature. The implemented examinations and revealed facts are sufficient to establish the diagnosis of Pendred’s syndrome. The authors draw attention to the necessity to pay attention to hypacusia in connection with thyropaties in ENT patients.

Key words: Pendred’s syndrome, thyroid gland, perception hypacusia, diagnosis.
