Summary:

A manifestation of altered tolerance of dental metal materials is an immune reaction of the type of delayed hypersensitivity. For evidence of this reaction metal compounds are used in skin tests or in the in vitro test of lymphocytes isolated from peripheral blood. The use of skin tests has however its limitations. The lymphocyte proliferation test can be however used for detection of the immune reaction to metals present in dental materials without restriction.

Key words: dental metal materials – immune reaction of the delayed hypersensitivity type – test of lyphocyte proliferation in vitro
