Summary:

The study was aimed at evaluation of possible improvement of pressure conditions in the middle ear after OMA by means of autoinflation using a balloon. Two groups of children were investigated, who displayed the tympanometric B curve two weeks after the OMA therapy began – a group with autoinflation (group I, 42 ears) and a group without autoinflation (group II, 38 ears). The tympanometric control examination two weeks after the beginning of the therapy revealed an improvement in 20 children of group I and 12 children of the group II. The control examination after 4 weeks revealed a significant improvement in 32 children of group I and 18 children of group II (P=0.008). The results of the study indicate the improvement of pressure conditions in the middle ear of children with OMA who practiced the aeration of middle ear by means of autoinflation.

Key words: atuce middle ear inflammation, autoinflation.
