In this paper is presented the problem of factitious disorder by proxy, also known as Münchhausen’s syndrome by proxy, and the example of case-history, too. This disorder is characterized by the deliberate long-term fabrication or induction of morbid symptoms in a child by an adult caretaker, mostly by mother. Münchhausen’s syndrome by proxy should by considered in the differential diagnosis of obscure conditions for which a rational explanation is lacking.
