Based on experience with 16 cases of male to female transsexualism the author elaborated a method of phoniatric care and voice education matching the new appearance of the patients. During education careful treatment of chronic inflammatory laryngeal changes and prevention of sequelae of hyperkinetic phonation are stressed. The objective of education is induction of a vocal quality which does not interfere with perception of the patient’s integrity.
