Eruption of Incisors after Removal of a Supernumerary Tooth
Krejčí P.

I. stomatologická klinika FNO a LF UP Olomouc, přednostka kliniky doc. MUDr. J. Stejskalová, CSc.

Summary:

In a group of 25 children, mean age 9.2 years, sex ratio boys /girls 3:1 the authors sought the ratio of different supernumerary teeth participating in the retention of central incisors and investigated the relation between the developmental stage of the root of central incisors at the time of appearance and their subsequent growth activity. The latter proved in incisors, the root development of which was no yet completed, very good and it seems therefore useful to remove the supernumerary tooth which is an obstacle to eruption as soon as possible because with terminated development of the root spontaneous eruption declines markedly. We detected differences in the width of the gingiva of the median incisors after their spontaneous eruption and in methods of an apically positioned flap and closed eruption. In more than half the cases the authors recorded changes in the root shape or length

Key words: incisor retention – incisor eruption – supernumerary tooth – root shape
