Classification of Dysarthrias from the Neurophysiological Aspect
Lašťovka M.

Foniatrická klinika 1. LF UK a VFN, Praha,přednosta prof. MUDr.M. Lašťovka, DrSc.

Summary:

The authors discuss in the introduction of their review the historical development of views on dysarthrias as impaired motor disorder of speech and submit to the reader various classifications of dysarthrias from the clinical and neurophysiological aspect. In their opinion the neurophysiological aspect of the development of dysarthrias must be fully respected. Some theoretical classifications are not sufficiently systematic for clinical practice. The authors submit therefore their own classification which implies classification into spastic dysarthria, extrapyramidal, cerebellar and bulbar dysarthria, respecting the site of its origin. The suggested pattern has the advantage that it fully respects the neurophysiological basis of the genesis of the disease and at the same time makes orientation for therapeutic purposes possible where treatment has a predominantly rehabilitation character.

Key words: dysarthria, motor disorder of speech, neurophysiological aspect, classification of dyarthrias.
